My husband I had an amazing visit to Lekki Market in Lagos, Nigeria with Sam Adeleke, Chief Explorer at TravelWithSamGlobal. Having never yet visited a sub-saharan African country, we ((my husband and I) felt lucky to have been guided by someone who inquired as to what we were interested in, and then proceeded to show us to some incredible local crafts and arts.
Surprisingly, the video and sound quality was excellent, we had no problems with seeing and hearing about whatever Sam was showing us. One unexpected bonus, however, was that when our items arrived in Germany, we were shocked by how much nicer they looked than even what we had seen on video.
Who doesn’t love a good surprise? Several times during our trip, we took photos of the two interactive windows. We wanted to invite friends to join – and you definitely will too, if you are guided by the very experienced (and hard-bargaining!) Sam. Thank you so much Sam and Localpurse, for making our first Africa trip so wonderful! PS – only one tip, if you’re buying art, be sure to request a tube shipment for anything that is not framed.

ABOUT the TWS-LOCAL PURSE PARTNERSHIP
The pandemic has shown us that we’re all more deeply connected than we realize. When we stopped traveling, we all felt it emotionally, physically, and financially. At over 10%, the travel industry makes up a significant chunk of the world’s GDP. Our industry has lost an estimated $1 trillion in revenue and over 100 million jobs. Some of the most impacted people within our global community are travel operators, professional guides, and local artisans.
These are the memorable people we meet when we travel.
– They teach us about culture with reverence.
– They show us traditions they preserve with care.
– They sell us crafts they created with love.
This was why we partnered with Local Purse to curate virtual tours and live shopping experiences.
